Operator details pending. Themys is a free, unincorporated beta. The full legal name, address and registration numbers of the operator will be published here before Themys charges for the service, and you will be asked to accept the updated documents at that point.

This page explains, in plain terms, what the AI in Themys does, where it goes wrong, and who is responsible for the result. It forms part of the Terms of Service.

Where AI is used

  • Drafting contract text from a brief you describe.
  • Reading a document or template you upload and extracting its structure and fields.
  • Summarising projects, clients and progress, and generating briefs and reports.
  • Suggesting figures, rates and line items based on your recorded work.
  • Transcribing voice dictation.

What AI output is

A draft. It is generated automatically, nobody reviews it before you see it, and it carries no assurance of accuracy.

AI is confidently wrong in specific, recognisable ways, and all of them matter in a document you send to a client:

  • Numbers. Totals, rates, quantities and tax figures can be wrong while looking entirely reasonable.
  • Law. Clauses may be generic, inapplicable in your jurisdiction, unenforceable, or missing something your situation requires.
  • Tax. VAT treatment, rates and the mandatory particulars of a compliant invoice differ by country and by transaction, and AI does not know your circumstances.
  • Invented detail. Names, references, dates and obligations can be fabricated outright.
  • Stale extraction. Reading a template or document you upload can misread a field, drop a row, or carry over the wrong value.

Who is responsible

You are. You decide what the document says and you choose to send it.

This matters more once a contract is signed. A signed contract binds you to whatever it says, including a clause an AI invented, a missing clause nobody noticed, and an obligation that reads reasonably but is wrong for your situation. Signing does not make a draft correct; it makes it harder to undo.

Themys asks you to confirm that you have reviewed each document before it is finalised, and records that confirmation with a timestamp and a fingerprint of the contents. That step exists because it is the only point at which an error can still be caught for free.

We are not responsible for an error in a document that you did not catch before sending it, whether it originated with AI, a template, a default setting, or a calculation.

What to check, every time

  • Every number: amounts, quantities, unit prices, totals, currency, rounding.
  • Tax: rate, treatment, tax IDs, and whether the invoice carries everything your country requires.
  • Identities: names, addresses, registration numbers on both sides.
  • Payment: bank account, IBAN, variable symbol, and what the payment QR code actually encodes.
  • Dates: issue, delivery, supply, due.
  • In a contract: every clause, and whether anything essential is missing.

Where your data goes

AI features send the relevant content to a third-party provider for processing — Anthropic's Claude API for contracts and templates, Google's Gemini API for the other AI features, OpenAI for voice transcription. Do not use AI features on anything you are unwilling to have processed by a third party. The Privacy Policy lists all providers.

Not advice

Nothing produced by Themys, with or without AI, is legal, tax or accounting advice. For anything that matters, have it reviewed by a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
